Perfect summer red!

I ended up not wearing this dress because at the last minute someone told me it's rude to wear red to a wedding and I didn't want to make waves, but this really is a lovely dress! I usually wear a size 2 but the size 4 was snug through my ribs. I recommend sizing up 2 sizes if you want a roomier fit, or 1 size up if you want it snug. The fabric was a bit more casual than I expected, making it feel like a sundress/cocktail dress crossover. Definitely put some thought into your undergarments. The top has no support and will flatten you out if you don't have the right support garments on. The slit is also pretty high in the front, so shapewear that comes down to mid-thigh will be visible. Very nice dress though, perfect shade of red for summer! Knee length on 5'11" woman.

Beautiful color; appropriate for wedding or work event

This dress was a beautiful robin's egg blue color that I think would be flattering on every skin tone. The top was a little snug (let's call it "secure") so if you have a larger chest it might be uncomfortable to get zipped in. Overall it is a stunning dress that I would rent again. The cut would make it work appropriate as well.

Pretty color for spring; tight through the hips and thighs

I was concerned that this dress would be too pale for a wedding but it was a lovely, wedding-guest-appropriate green! The color and ruffle made this a cute dress and I got a few compliments in it. The extra small was a little tight through the hips and thighs (I'm 5'11, 36" hips, skinny chicken thighs). I would have worn the small but the small was oddly baggy in the waist (my waist is 25") so I went with the extra small. There is a good amount of stretch in it and the tighter hips and thighs could make an ironing board looks like it has a booty! The loose waist/tight hips issue might also be because I'm tall and my torso isn't the right length for this dress. The seam of the higher side was pretty high on me, basically right at the base of my hip (scandal!) but again I'm probably just too tall for this dress. I ended up wearing a sticky bra with it because I thought a strapless might show in the back but a strapless probably would have been okay. There is no built in support so a bra was a serious must for me. I was surprised that adjustment hardware on the straps looked a little cheap, like you might find on a bathing suit, and they were scratchy. Otherwise, the fabric was really heavy and it felt well made! I felt like Tinkerbell-gone-salsa-dancing in it, with the color and sassy flounce!

Classy, quiet style

I got the XS because it was the only size available and I'm glad I did. It fit like a glove. I'm 5'11, 120 lbs, usually wear a 2. The skirt may have been a little tight around the back but the waist fit perfectly and the looseness of the top offset it. (The looseness of the top makes your waist look itty bitty, too!) It came to just above my knees (I'd say knee length, but you could still technically see my kneecaps, if that helps tall women gauge how it would fit on them.) I got tons of compliments on this dress- it's classy and professional but still pretty and almost high fashion. Very chic. The material was nice and thick so I didn't need a jacket with it. My only complaint is that it tended to slide a little down my back which would gently choke me in the front throughout the day, but that might not have happened with a different size and it's not like I died or anything. I would absolutely buy this dress and wear it to anything from a funeral to work or to any classy event. Totally transitions from day to night easily.

This would have been the perfect dress for my spunky, fun-loving mother, but not for me.

Let me preface this by saying that this was my backup dress, but it was sent without notification so I had to scramble for different accessories the night before my flight. If I RTR again, I'm going to make sure the backup dress is as similar as possible as the desired rental dress in terms of cut and color to avoid that last minute panic. So please interpret this review knowing that I was disappointed from the very beginning, and even the most beautiful dress probably wouldn't get a glowing review from me under the circumstances. I am 5'11" and usually wear S/2, so dresses rarely fit me correctly in the hem length or the waist length. The stretchiness of this dress helped make the waist more fitted, so I wore the XS instead of the S. One thing that I didn't notice until I saw pictures later was there was some sort of weird gaping at the back of my neck (you can see it in this picture.) I know I have terrible posture and the dress was riding up all night, but this is kind of embarrassing. Maybe this would have been better if I had worn a larger size, but the S erased any semblance of curve in my waist so this was probably just not a good dress for a tall, slim woman. I was also surprised that the lace wasn't really lace- it was more like laser cut pattern you might see decorating athletic wear. I loved how stretchy it was, and it didn't look bad, but it did have a different vibe than traditional lace would have. I wish I had taken a picture of it for this review. Also, the color was more plum than wine, so if you're having goals of wearing a classy fall-red dress to a wedding, this isn't it. Every review says, "I got tons of compliments in this dress!" but honestly nobody mentioned it when I wore it. I think it fit me oddly, the ruffle at the bottom was a little strange for someone my size and age, and the cut was made for someone maybe 15 years older than me. I can see my spirited mother totally rocking this dress though!

This dress was absolutely perfect and earned many compliments.

I intended to order a size 42 with a 44 backup, but the 44 was unavailable so I did a 40 backup. I'm very glad I did- I had plenty of room in the 40, a surprise with my 5'11" frame. The front was simple but very flattering, probably on every figure. Some other reviews stated that the straps on the back were too long and looked like a cage, but I didn't find this to be the case, though that could be because I have a long torso. I thought that a halter bra might work, but the straps showed a bit in the front so as the RTR details suggest, an adhesive support system is definitely the way to go. I may rent this same dress again for future events! This was my first time using RTR and was pleasantly surprised that the dress came a day earlier than expected and the return was easy.
