I usually wear a 6 in dresses and rented a large - and even then, I could barely lift my arms over my head! That said, it's a gorgeous dress, and I wore it for a valentine's day black tie party and got compliments all night. It's not terribly long (I'm 5'4" and got away with wearing 1" heels).

Chose this as a back up dress and landed up loving it. Arms are weirdly long but look fine once they're on. Wore to a black tie event

Love this dress fit perfectly no tape needed for the girls.

Warm enough for October indoor/outdoor event in Philly. Flattering. Only issue is I couldn’t raise my arms over my head. Many compliments!

This dress was stunning! Loved the sleeve detail and the open back. I'm only 5'3 and the length was perfect with heels!

What an incredible dress! I'm 5"7, size 4-6 and ordered an S. It was slightly tight around the waist and the arms, but manageable. May be too long for shorter ladies. There is a hook for the breasts, so the cleavage doesn't go too low, but it doesn't look good with the hook on. Got lots of compliments. Even the bride said I was the best dressed of the evening! Would 100% wear again!

True to size! A little bit tighter in the waist, but very flattering. I was apprehensive about wearing, because it was warmer outside and not feeling very velvet-y with the temperature. I received compliments all night long!

Long length wasn't available for my dates, but regular still looked good. Dress is beautiful, received a lot of compliments. Shoulder pads give it a nice structure. I'm between a 10 and 12 size and the XXL fit great.

I rented this for a December formal event and it fit the bill perfectly! My waist measures approx. 28”; the SR size was tight but it did fit nicely - unfortunately the zipper on one of the sleeves was busted so I was unable to wear it. The MR size worked fine and I got tons of compliments in it. The sleeves felt a bit too long but as others have commented they’re meant to be a bit ruched/scrunched. The length was fine for me at 5’5” with some heels.

I chose my hair up because sure the dress is busy enough and a simple necklace. The slit is high in case you were making a decision based on that. I used some fabric tape to close it up a bit. Love this dress.

Dress looks immaculate in person!

Having a back up size was perfect! I thought a 4 would work but I needed a 6. Sending it back was a breeze and it was seamless. My hubby and I won best dressed for the event.

This dress had a splash of Victorian influence with the shoulder pads and the velvet lace material. I’m 5’3”, and without platform heels, this dress would have dragged on the floor. The V-plunge in the front is really deep and it has a clasp closure that might work on a smaller bust, but beware for bigger busts. Some boob tape is definitely needed if you don’t wear anything underneath and having some dress tape will help for added security. The back is open so prepared to show some skin, but it balances nicely with the long sleeves and length of the dress. The more fitting section of the dress was the upper torso, mainly the arms and waist, so I would take that in mind when renting. The sleeves were long but narrow, which doesn’t give much room for stretch. However, take a chance on this dress if you’re daring for a twist on a gown.

Rented this dress for a wedding. It's beautiful. I recommend sizing up I read through the other reviews who said they had trouble with the arm area, they were (mostly) right. Both arms had a zipper, so before putting the dress on, I unzipped the sleeves and zipped them back on, did not have an issue there. BUT, i couldnt lift my arms all the way up all night. I accepted that after reading the reviews and its a small price to pay to look good in this dress The waist was pretty tight, but with spanx it fit perfectly fine This is not a *sitting* dress, which i was okay with since I was dancing all night anyways. I wore 2 inch heels and didn't have an issue with the length (I', 5 ft 5) Lastly, it is a low v-cut dress with a clasp but I kept the dress unclasped and didn't have any issues

Wore this dress for a fall wedding in the mountains and let me tell you, crowd pleaser. Fit like a glove and couldn’t be happier. If I wasn’t poor I would have bought it but such good quality- love it!!

Love the style. Sexy split.

Arms can be a little tight but they have zippers going up your forearm if you need a little bit more room or need to get the sleeves up a bit (they’re quite long). Gorgeous dress. The shoulder pads and cut of the dress looked great as an old Hollywood glam look. I got compliments all night!

I got a size large based on other recommendations to size up. It fit well but I didn’t end up wearing it. It just was a little scandalous for a family wedding. I am 5-8 and I probably couldn’t wear heels. I would rent again to consider wearing.

This dress was gorgeous! However, the fit is all over the place. Waist and arms on the medium were way too small. But the arms on the large were super baggy while also cut so that I could hardly lift my arms. I’m busty so opted to leave the top unclasped to avoid a weird pulling on the mesh. Worked out fine with some tape. Overall loved it and got many compliments!

Attended company party, casino theme as dress code. Perfect fit for the vibe, paired with over knee black boots. Size 6, arms and the length of the dress is too long for a petite 6. but perfect waist.

It is probably a true to size 6. I have an athletic build and the dress was tight across my back and forearms. The length was perfect. I’m 5’6” and wore a 1.5” heel. The sleeves on the dress are weird. They are extremely long and zippered. They were too tight to cuff, but I tried to tuck them into the higher part of the sleeve to no avail. They are easily 2” too long. The V neck is very low but does have a hook-and-eye to make it less plunging. The slit in front is very high and I pinned it to make the slit about 2” lower. Overall, a beautiful dress.

Gorgeous velvet detailing all over. Absolutely beautiful dress. Things of note: Required boob tape (can’t wear normal bra). Two stars down because the hook on the chest did nothing and gaped tremendously I couldn’t use it at all. The nude dress lining kept showing through to the front along the chest area (see highlight pic) - I kept trying to pull it back it may have worked if I taped the dress down directly on my chest but that likely would have moved while dancing.

This dress is beautiful and fits a bit tight around the waist. I’m a true medium and ordered the medium. I got it to zip but there was no room. Also, the sleeves are outrageously long and small!! I ended up have to roll and fold the excess sleeves into them selves to make it work. I ended up not wearing this to my event and going with a more comfortable option. You can’t raise your arms!

I wanted to love this dress so much. The fabric is beautiful. However the fit was weird in several ways. It’s very very low cut and if you use the clasp it’s very obvious, which I hated. The arms are absurdly tight when you zip them at your wrists. You can’t wear a plunge bra with this as you can see the straps in the back so you would need a lot of tape if you have a large chest so that you don’t flash anyone. It’s also incredibly hard to raise your arms. Didn’t wear and really disappointed in this one

I wear a 12 pant. I’m 5’5 190lbs a 2x fit me. Also, stunning dress but little arm movement, not due to it being tight just the design. I loved the way this looked on me but wish I was able to bring my arms above my head (if that makes sense)

Wore it to a Galentines party and was perfect

Did not like this dress in person. The fabric seems like repurposed curtains. The shoulder pads were too much. The sleeves way too long and with an awkwardly narrow zipper. The various hooks are odd. Other maxi dresses with slits have looked great, but this one seems best suited for tall, thin women with narrow shoulders.

This was a vibe for a winter wedding in London, great fit, sexy but comfortable too.

This dress was perfect for a winter wedding in Chicago. As other reveiwers noted, the sleeves were long but were able to be zipped up and ruched up. While the dress did have a lower v in the front, I was able to easily wear a strapless bra and keep the front clasped.

It's a classic old Hollywood look. I rented several dresses, and this was the one I was going to wear to the cocktail event. Unfortunately, I couldn't go. I am 5 feet. With a heel, I would have been fine wearing this. There is a little drag in the back but looked intentional. , Not walking or tripping over the dress, which is usually an issue—I wanted to put this out there for the shorter girls because this is a struggle.

No matter what size you get you probably won't be able to lift your arms over your head in this dress
Runs small. I am a 6/8 and wore the large and it fit perfectly.
The fit of this dress would be better on someone a bit taller. The arms may be tight if you have bigger arms.
I ha so many compliments on this dress! So flattering!
