Love love love this cocktail style of this dress! Perfect for any semi-formal event! 

I got worried about my RTR order and called a week before my event and changed my selection to this dress. I am so glad I did!! It was just beautiful, and I received so many compliments. I normally wear a size 14, but had read the reviews and ordered the 16. It fit me like a glove. Like some of the other reviews, it does run a bit tight in the rib cage, but not so much that it would be uncomfortable. I was singing at the wedding, and I was able to breathe just fine. The inner sheath lining and sheer/sequin overlay are very forgiving, and hid those pesky flaws. The dress is longer and hit me just below the knee - which I loved. I am 5'9" so the length was great on me. If you are shorter than 5'6", I would think the length might be strange. There is boning in the bodice, but I had a blue bra that matched so well, it just looked like part of the dress, and I felt much more supported. My first RTR was a great success!

I wore this dress for a black-tie suggested work function. The dress was elegant and classy enough for a work function while still being fun and unique.

I was attending an event with a very specific dress code: blue. There are lots of blue dresses around Manhattan, but no store had the selection and variety that RTR has. This wasn't the dress I was originally going to rent. I showed up at the Flatiron store to pick up another and while I waited to try on I browsed the racks and found this one. Love it. "Best dressed" was another compliment I received. Ideal for an elegant wedding or other event where you want to shine, and want to be comfortable to dance as well. Has a built-in bra which was great! Really well supported. I'm a 34D and I felt very secure in it.

Both sizes fit, but the 10 was more comfortable. This dress runs small, so definitely go one size up if you have bigger hips. This was a beautiful dress. I loved it

This dress was so beautiful! It fit true to size and was very comfortable all night. Ordered the 2 and 4, ended up wearing the 4 because I had a little more room in that size. It was very flattering and I got so many compliments! Classy and sophisticated! Would highly recommend!

This dress is not something I would normally choose. It was my backup dress and I was trying something a little out of my comfort zone. I honestly contemplated changing my choice several times. I'm glad I didn't! My original choice didn't workout and this dress was perfect for the occasion! I was nervous that it would be too long and that I would look too matronly. Not so much! Loved the color and the cut! My shoe choice...meh. But I had to get on a plane for a destination wedding with this dress the day after receiving it in the mail so it was what it was. Simple black strap heels would've been perfect! I wore a strapless bra with this. Make sure your undergarments fit well because this dress has zero give which means no adjusting that strapless bra all night. 

Did not wear a bra though I usually would (I am a DD), but the dress was well constructed enough that I did not need to and the skirt is a pencil skirt, so it is tight.

The pattern and sequins make the dress unforgettable! However it runs a bit small so I would definitely rent a size up! 

I received quite a few compliments.  I enjoyed wearing it and dancing in it.  This was my back up dress, I almost didn't wear it but with the dessert heat I am glad I chose this one.  

I think it ran a little bit small -- it was a little tight in the bust and showed off a lot of bust, but the pattern of the lace made the amount of cleavage classy instead of intense.  It was fun to dance in and good for the wedding.  It had just the right amount of sparkle and really accentuated my blue eyes.

I absolutely LOVED this dress! This was my first rental from Rent the Runway and I was a bit nervous that the dress wouldn't fit. I was pleasantly surprised that the dress fit perfectly! The dress does runs a bit small around the rib cage. I normally wear between a size 12 and size 14 (closer to size 12). I wore the size 14 and it fit perfectly. I did fit in the backup size 12 however it was a bit tight in the rib cage and would have made it difficult to breathe. The dress looks black in many of the pictures but the sequins are a gorgeous dark blue. I would definitely rent this dress again!

I loved this dress!  I did end up wearing the 10 when I normally wear a solid size 8 - it ran a little small - especially in the bust area.  Maybe if I hadn't worn a strapless bra the 8 would've worked, but I needed the bra :)  It was lined very nicely as this October wedding was a seasonably cool day and I worried about being super cold - but I was fine in it!  I had a second guest tell me in the ladies room that she loved my dress "and I don't normally like blue dresses."  Um, thanks??  :)

Fit is slim through the hip - probably could have worn the 6 if i had narrower hip/thigh. I liked that it was a little longer - made it feel more formal. It hit the knee, but I could see it falling at an awkward part of the leg if I was shorter (when I took my heels off at the end of the night the dress was way below my knee). Only con about this dress was it was itchy around my armpits. I had a little rash at the end of the night but it was gone by the morning. Totally worth it. 

I'm normally a 12 and ordered up based on reviews. The 14 was snug through the ribs but fit good overall. My problem was the built in corset  was way too low on my short frame and since it is sewn into the dress it cannot be pulled up. It's hard to tell in this picture, but it's low! I'm a 36DDD, so it was a problem. I found a great minimizing strapless from wacoal in black so it could show through without being obvious.  (the corset is black)
The lace top was loose in the back gaped open and stuck out. If my shoulders were 2" higher it would've been perfect. 
I ended up buying a navy blazer last minute to throw over it which made me much more comfortable. I loved the length and color. 

I agree with some of the previous reviews that the bust on this dress runs a little small.  However, I was able to wear my regular size.  This was a great alternative to a long gown.  Still very dressy, and perfect for a black-tie event.  I got compliments all night!  The only negative on this dress was that the sequins on the edge of the arm holes and neckline were VERY scratchy.

Love the dress I wore it to New Year celebration and was very festive and sexy.  Dress runs a little small I usually wear size 4 but was not able to zip it up around the chest area.  Had to wear my second option seize 6 and it was also slightly snag but the shoulder and neck area was a little loose.  But overall the dress was really good and I received a lot of compliments

I wore this Nov 8 to a Marine Corps Ball & was completed so much on my dress. Everyone was loving it. I had to get the 14 because I am a 42 DD & I needed the extra room. Def wore this with no bra because the bra was constricting. The sequins under the arm were a bit annoying but bearable. The only issue was my hair getting caught in the back sequins (I have long thick hair). Other than that I loved it. Can't wait for the next event b

This dress is stunning and catches the light beautifully. I'd recommend for tall girls like myself, as it may hot at a strange length on the shins for anyone 5'6 or below. 

The details of this dress are beautiful. It was not one of my favorite rentals though. The sequins around you armpit area could be really painful, and I was rubbed raw by the end of the night. While I got a lot of compliments on the dress I wasn't the biggest fan of the fit of this dress. It runs small, so order a size up. Not the best dress if you are trying to dance a lot because it's pretty tight around your leg area. It still is a beautiful dress though.

This dress was gorgeous, but ultimately forgettable. It photographed far far better than I felt it looked in the mirror. Runs a bit small through the hips ( and I say this not as a hippy girl by any means), I'm usually a 2, the 4 was snug. If you have biceps the arms chafe due to the sequins, and by the night this was a bit uncomfy. 

This dress felt great on- there wasn't much room in the chest or hips in the 4 but the 6 was too big in the waist. If you're busty size up for sure. Overall I was super happy and felt very confident and glamorous in this dress.

Classy and conservative but beautiful.  I wore this to a Hospital Gala and fit in perfectly.  Size up! This dress runs small, I usually wear a 2 or 4 and the 2 I didn't even try on because it looked SO small!  Even the 4 was a little snug but was able to zip.  Color is beautiful and sequins gave the perfect sparkle.  Length hits just below the knee at 5'3.

I wore this dress to a black tie optional work event. I was looking for something sexy without being inappropriate. This was the dress! I received lots of compliments. 

My only criticisms I have : 

The boning inside the dress stabbed me a bit 
but it's a small price to pay for the nice fit. 

The lace is a little scratchy but that is typical for the material.

All in all a great dress and I would wear it again! 

I normally wear a size 4, but this dress has a very slim cut. I wore the size 6 and it fit like a glove. It is a beautiful dress and I mostly loved it. My only issue was the material around the neck and arm area of the dress was a bit scratchy. 

I typically wear a size 4, which was snug in this dress, but the 6 fit perfectly.  Bottom layer was longer than top when sitting, so you could see hem.  Overall would definitely recommend though!  Love this dress.

It was beautiful. It fit like a glove, it was only a little scratchy in the very top seem by my collarbone, I'm not really thin for being 5"1 but it was very flattering. It didn't catch on jewelry or anything else. I would rent it again!

I absolutely love this dress. I am on the shorter side, and I was worried about the fit. I am typically a size 6, but I am glad I went with the 8.  The dress is a tight fit, but the 8 fit like a glove.  I received many compliments and I was sad to send it back! The ordering process was very easy and I received the dress on time as promised.  I can't wait to order from Rent the Runway again.  Great experience. 

Fit was true to size. I'm only 5' tall and he length hit mid-calf, which I was okay with. Dress was hugging all the right curves and I was still able to dance, sequins were gorgeous, and not itchy for me at all. 

I am overweight and the dark material made for a nice cover up of my flaws. It is a pain to try and keep the lace from snagging, and it seems to grab on to all the small things
 But say it ain't so, and try the dress anyway. I uploaded a picture of the back since there are so many pictures of the front. I also have a large tattoo on my shoulder blade that covered it up really well
 I love my tattoo, but I like the option to show it off or cover it up. 

I received sizes 8 & 10 and while both fit, I decided that the 8 was more form-fitting and flattering. This dress is very well made and has a nice lining. I chose to wear a bra with clear straps and it worked just fine. 

I felt beautiful in this dress and highly recommend. Def. needed spanx but it fit my hourglass body type very nicely. 

I loved the fit of this dress. It did run small so definitely size up. Was very elegant but still fun. However the neck area was very itchy. I ended up wearing my backup style instead. 

Dress runs small.  I typically wear size 8 and I had lost 5 pounds before the wedding and the dress was snug.  Runs small in the hip/thigh area.  Received the dress a few days early which was very helpful.  Wore silver shoes and minimal jewelry due to the decorative top of the dress and the neckline.  No bra needed for this dress. Great first time experience with Rent the Runway service and I will recommend to friends. 

Runs a little small, but managed to squeeze into a 4 without shape wear. Did not need a bra, though I needed help with the zipper. Once worn, it was comfy enough to spend 8 hours in for a gala that I was working at. If you have very sensitive skin, you might find the sequins at the neck a bit scratchy. Goes just a touch below knees, which is great for a formal affair. I accessorized with just long earrings, saves the trouble of looking for a necklace. 

It fit beautifully! After many hours, the sequins were rubbing against my chest and arms. It left marks, but it was still beautiful and very comfortable (minus the rubbing). 

The dress was a perfect length for a formal event. I received a lot of compliments. It definitely runs small. I suggest going a size up! 


The dress was a nice mix of sequins and lace. Not too flashy and still sparkly. The dress is very eye catching. Form fitting in the right places, actually gave me the appearance of cleavage. Im 5'1" so it hit under the knee more than Id like but that is just personal preference.  A lottle scratchy under the arms after a few hours but not unbearable.  I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the condition of the lace was starting to get a little fuzzy in areas and the zipper was a challenge. 

Fit was good. I normally wear a 12 or L dress, and this was no exception. I have a small belly pooch, which you can see in the photos if you're looking, but it wasn't bad. It's a bit low cut, which is not obvious because of the overlay. I'm a 36B and the chest fits. You can see in the close up, it does come low in the actual dress fabric. The blue came across beautifully in the photos.

This was not my first choice. It was actually my backup. But I am so glad I had it! It was exactly what I wanted when it got here. Fit was perfect besides a little snug in my hips/bottom area but that is a common issue for me. Fabric had some give to it so it wasn't unbearable. Size up would have been to big.

It was a surprisingly good length considering I am short an use the larger size. Don't need a bra, because it's basically built in, so that's a plus! 


I rented this dress for my mom's 60th birthday party celebration.  It was elegant and I received lots of compliments.  I am small busted so I didn't have any issues with the top, however, it can be a little scratchy on the top but nothing too bad.  I am also big in the booty area, so there wasn't a lot of give when it came to sitting, but I was up on my feet dancing most of the night.  I am 5'3" and the dress was definitely below my knee.  I absolutely loved this dress!!!  So glad I picked it. 

I love this dress. It fit perfectly and was just the right amount of sparkle to shine at the Gala that I attended. The color is a a true navy blue and the length was perfect for a formal event. The sequins did not cause any skin irritation for me (I read that in some of the reviews)...maybe my dress had more lining or something. I liked not having to wear a bra; the dress provided enough support. I am a 36 C, 120lbs, 5'5''. I received lots of compliments and felt beautiful. :)

I bought this dress for a wedding. I'm 7mos post partum and am having trouble losing the weight while breastfeeding. Anyhoo, I wanted something that I felt hot in but hid my insecurities. This was my second choice, my first wasn't available for my date. I liked this dress but it didn't WOW, it was nice though. The waist lining kinda bunched (I had read that in a previous review) but I don't think anyone but me noticed and the under lining was difficult to stay under the actual dress (also read that in a review). The sequence was itchy but didn't stop me from dancing or even leave marks or a rash. These are the only things that made this dress not 5 stars, for me. 

I am 5'9", 165#, 38B I read the other comments and ordered 12 and 14. The 12 could zip but was very snug. 14 was comfortable except that the sequins rubbed my chest at the shoulder, didn't stop me from dancing and having a very nice time and looking amazing! 

Loved the fit and the style. The length was just below the knee. Requires strapless bra and if snug enough maybe no bra at all.

Would definitely rent again. I have a little of the lady pouch where my abs should be, but the dress did a great job hiding that. It was a little tight in the chest area, but I could wear my black strapless.

It has enough detail, that you only need silver/white gold earring/bracelet.  Best to wear a strapless bra.
My figure is more straight than curvy.

Loved the dress. Lining hides any flaws. I am 5'7" with a small bust and the 4 was perfect.

It ran a little small and definitely hugged my curves. But the sparkle and color was a big hit. I wore this to a catholic afternoon wedding and an outdoor reception. Many guests complimented me with the design and look of this dress. I recommend silver or nude heels. Comfortable dress. 

I'm 5'1 and the dress still worked length wise. Everyone loved it! It's the perfect dress for a cocktail party, work event, wedding, etc. (the sequins did get a little itchy towards the end of the night around my arms/neck - but that may be from all the dancing)

This dress is great for a wedding or any formal event and I got a lot of compliments on it! It runs small so I would definitely recommend getting a size up and the fabric around the neckline was a bit itchy at times. This dress may not be great for big chested people - I didn't wear a bra with this dress because it would've been too tight. I'm 5'11 so I loved that this dress was long enough for me! Even though it was a little tight, it still fit well, was flattering, and was easy to move in. 

I was a little nervous because there wasn't a backup size available but reading the reviews I knew it ran small so I ordered a size larger than normal.  Luckily it fit perfectly - a very flattering cut and style.  It was very comfortable too.  At first I the sequins around the arms was a little bothersome but after about 20 minutes I didn't even notice them.  I would 100% rent this dress again - gorgeous!

I am usually a 0 but for this one the 2 fit best.  It won't of have been a 5 star review if the length was a little shorter and the fabric on top was a little itchy.  Otherwise lots of compliments.  I liked the sequin details a lot    

The fit was snug but not too tight! A perfect fit for my shape, which is athletic/ pear.
