General Conditions

These terms and conditions (“Rent the Runway Gift Card Terms and Conditions”) apply to the sale and use of Rent the Runway, Inc. (“we,” “our,” “us,” “RTR” or “Rent the Runway”) physical gift cards and electronic-only digital gift cards ("Digital Gift Cards") and gift credits (collectively, “Gift Cards”). 

In addition to the terms on this page, the purchase and use of Gift Cards is subject to the Rent the Runway Terms of Service ("Terms") available at https://www.renttherunway.com/pages/termsofservice and is considered part of the Services subject to these Terms generally. 

By purchasing Gift Cards, you are certifying and representing to Rent the Runway that the activities in connection with which the Gift Cards will be used will comply with these Terms and all applicable laws, rules and regulations, and that the Gift Cards will not be used in any manner that is misleading, deceptive, unfair or otherwise harmful to consumers or Rent the Runway.

We reserve the right to refuse to sell Gift Cards, or in certain circumstances, to freeze or void Gift Cards that we believe are being used for fraudulent purposes, including to engage in money laundering or other financial crimes.

Purchases & Cancellations

Digital Gift Cards may be purchased online here in the denominations listed on the purchase site. Total purchases by any one individual may not exceed ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00).

If your Digital Gift Card has a delivery date in the future and has not been delivered, you can cancel your purchase by contacting Customer Support and receive a refund. If the delivery date is the same day as the purchase date, the same date that you want to cancel or in the past, it cannot be canceled or refunded.

Redemption

Gift Cards are redeemable only on our website and mobile application for eligible Services and merchandise through our Services. Gift Cards may not be redeemed for styling services or at any physical locations or events. A Gift Card cannot be used to purchase other Gift Cards. Additional limits or restrictions may apply to Gift Card use at Rent the Runway’s discretion, and as stated in the Services or on the Gift Card packaging or purchase page.

When a Gift Card is redeemed, the full value of the Gift Card is loaded into your Rent the Runway Account as a credit balance. Subscription Fees or purchases of Products plus applicable fees or taxes will be deducted from your credit balance. Any unused credit balance will remain in your Account and be automatically applied toward subsequent Subscription Fees or purchases until the credit balance has been exhausted. The maximum value that an individual may convert from one or more Gift Cards into account credit balance in a single day is $2,000.00. If a transaction exceeds your available account credit balance, you will be prompted to enter an additional payment method for the remaining amount due in order to complete the transaction. To view your credit balance, go to the Credits tab of your Membership page on our website.

The card number on Digital Gift Cards operates like cash - anyone in possession of it is able to use it. Gift card purchasers and recipients should take care to protect the card number, and any printouts or other materials containing the card number, in order to avoid unauthorized purchases. As discussed further below, Rent the Runway is not responsible for unauthorized purchases.

Gift Cards are not redeemable or exchangeable for cash (except as required by law).

Additional Terms for Digital Gift Cards

Digital Gift Cards are only issued electronically; no physical card will be provided. The Digital Gift Card number will be delivered to the recipient’s email address that the purchaser provides at time of purchase of the digital Gift Card. Purchaser is responsible for providing an accurate and deliverable recipient email address. Recipients typically receive a digital Gift Card via email within 24 hours, or on the delivery date the purchaser chooses. Digital Gift Cards may be redeemed by providing the digital Gift Card number at the time of checkout online on our Services.

Rent the Runway and its partner(s) are not responsible for Digital Gift Cards that are undeliverable or not received due to a failure to enter an accurate email address for the recipient. Please check to make sure the email address of the recipient is correct and contact Customer Support if you suspect the recipient did not receive their Digital Gift Card.

Expiration and Fees

Gift Cards do not expire and are not subject to any fees. Gift Cards cannot be reloaded.

Lost, Stolen, or Damaged Cards; Unauthorized Use; Returns

You should treat your Gift Card like cash and protect it accordingly. Title to and risk of loss for Gift Cards passes to the purchaser upon sale. Rent the Runway reserves the right to refuse to accept Gift Cards that Rent the Runway believes were fraudulently or illegally obtained. Rent the Runway is not responsible if a Gift Card, or associated card number, is lost, stolen, destroyed, damaged, or used without permission. Gift Cards will be replaced if lost, stolen, or damaged only with proof of purchase and only for the remaining value shown in Rent the Runway’s records. Rent the Runway is not responsible if your Gift Card is used without your permission.

Refunds of items purchased with Digital Gift Cards are subject to these Terms generally, including the Rent the Runway Return Policy.

No Affiliation with Rent the Runway

Gift Cards may not be used in connection with any marketing, advertising or other promotional activities (including without limitation via websites, Internet advertisements, email, telemarketing, direct mail, newspaper and magazine advertisements, and radio and television broadcasts). Use of Rent the Runway’s name, logo, trade dress (including any image/likeness of the Gift Cards) or trademarks in connection with the purchase or use of Gift Cards is strictly prohibited. Furthermore, the use of Gift Cards in any manner that states or implies that any person, website, business, product or service is endorsed or sponsored by, or otherwise affiliated with, Rent the Runway or any of its subsidiaries or affiliates is prohibited.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

IN ADDITION TO THE GENERAL “LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY” SECTION SET FORTH BELOW, IN THE EVENT THAT RENT THE RUNWAY IS FOUND LIABLE TO YOU FOR A CLAIM ARISING FROM A GIFT CARD, YOUR SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY WILL BE TO RECOVER ACTUAL AND DIRECT DAMAGES WHICH SHALL NOT EXCEED THE LAST BALANCE HELD ON YOUR GIFT CARD.
